Emotions are typically high during a divorce and the last thing anyone wants is to be stuck in a constant divorce battle. Unfortunately many feuding couple’s take years to resolve their divorces. The main reason is usually an unwillingness to cooperate or the spouses’ inability to communicate.

According to a recent report by CBS New York, a Long Island couple have been locked in a bitter divorce dispute for over a decade! The husband is claiming a “crooked court system and an unrelenting wife are to blame for one the longest-running divorce cases in New York State.” The husband in this case has been trying to divorce his wife for the past 12 years, CBS reported.

The husband reported to CBS that his wife lied about her net worth and has been trying to conceal her inheritance from her father’s $1.2 million estate. However, the wife’s attorney is claiming that it is the husband to blame for the delays because he had filed for bankruptcy and is now fighting with the internal revenue service. The husband told CBS that he has spent close to $3 million in legal fees, spousal maintenance and other charges. The divorce proceedings will resume in May, and both spouses are hoping to have the divorce finalized within the next year.

The couple in this case have unfortunately, spent unnecessary time and money that they will never get back. Don’t let this happen to you, get the speedy divorce that you deserve! Long Island Attorney Jay D. Raxenberg can help!
