According to a new study released by the National Center for Family and Marriage Research, U.S. women with the least education have the lowest rate of first divorce. Furthermore, U.S. women with the most education also have the lowest rate of first divorce. The researchers at Bowling Green State University used date taken from the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau and found that 17.5 per 1,000 women eighteen and older had a first divorce. The number was only 14.4 per 1,000 among women who had no high school diploma or GED. The number was 14.2 per 1,000 among women who had a college degree. The highest rate of divorced women (23 per 1,000) were those who received some education after high school, but did not receive a college degree.
